Quality Control Manager

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's laboratory operations and performance.
  • Participate in the implementation of the laboratories operations budget to ensure compliance with organizational expenditure requirements.
  • Responsible for providing daily technical and scientific analysis of data.
  • Maintain a level of expertise in field of biology, chemistry, and microbiology.
  • Determine the acceptability of test results and data generated from routine monitoring or special studies, and the dissemination of these results.
  • With Production Team input develop, maintain and communicate a detailed tracking/trending/reporting system that assists in the testing/monitoring of production quality.
  • Create, maintain, revise, and review documents of all types, including Standard Operating Procedures and Field Issue Reports.
  • File Monthly and Quarterly third-party water analysis with the Department of Health.
  • Conduct and lead corrective/preventive investigations associated with microbial contamination.
  • Supervise the performance of all QC microbiological and physical/chemical procedures and methods.
  • Trains members of the department and other departments as necessary in GMP.
  • Supervises and develops staff to improve individual, departmental, and overall company performance.
  • Identification of organisms encountered in collected samples.
  • Dictating product holds, releases, and disposals based on microbiological & physical/chemical analysis.
  • Serve as expert in special projects and experimentation dealing with microorganisms.
  • Maintains laboratory cleaning, stock ordering, parts cleaning, maintenance, and safety awareness.
  • Implementation of MSDS and Risk Management procedures including PPE and specific safety knowledge.
  • Schedule and supervise and/or conduct microbiological, bio-chemical tests on components and complete products.
  • Monitor, maintain, and routinely improve reproducibility and accuracy of protocols by making suggestions and taking an active role in designing and carrying out improved experiments. Prepare and review validation documents, SOP’s, assays, etc.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as Brewing, Logistics, Packaging, and Warehouse. Maintain active communication with all internal and external colleagues.
  • Serve as Senior Safety Specialist, EH&S expert, Chemical Hygiene Officer and develop safety programs.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Comply with company policy regarding purchase orders and expense reporting, and ensure proper filing with the Accounting.
  • Willingness to lead and assist on applicable Capital Investment Projects.
  • Organize and facilitate regular tastings of raw ingredients, process beer and finished beer.
  • Assists with training and oversight of food safety in cafe. 

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelors Degree in Microbiology
  • Minimum 3 years laboratory experience. (Brewing lab experience a plus).

MARKET MANAGER - IOWA

Duvel Moortgat USA is internationally recognized as a leader in the high-end luxury beer segment.  We are currently seeking a Market Manager to oversee the Iowa territory.  The preferred candidate will live in, or be willing to relocate to the Cedar Rapids area.   Competitive salary, bonus, car allowance, medical/dental, 401k, and other benefits available.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute local sales strategy through effective leadership and management of direct reports.
  • Develop short and long-term, local business priorities and identify issues/opportunities across all trade channels.
  • Deliver local shipments, depletion, contribution, and distribution/RoS objectives.
  • Manage local spend-to-budget and deliver ROI objectives.
  • Manage and develop customer relationships, ensuring focus and execution against company objectives and provide appropriate feedback and direction based on performance.
  • Develop and execute local sales and marketing programming ensuring consistency with company objectives.
  • Deliver execution of strategic brand plans, price positioning, consumer marketing programs, and new product launches.
  • Develop and execute strategic alignment of wholesaler network.
  • Develop effective working relationship with senior distributor management teams driving strategic initiatives “top down”.
  • Manage brand projects, brand budgeting; prepare and present branded presentations to external audiences.
  • Analyze performance to address variances and ensure that corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
  • Forecast future shipment and depletions trends.
  • Provide management with market intelligence including sales trends, product developments and competitor activity, and recommend strategies to address these trends.
  • Observe all state and federal laws pertaining to the sale, merchandising, and promotion of malt beverages.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 3-5 years of sales experience, including team management, managing distributors and retail, managing chain account activities
  • Experience in managing luxury brands or high-end craft and specialty wine, beer, or spirits brands
  • Strong alignment to company culture and values
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently and with limited direction
  • Results oriented and determined in the face of a challenge
  • Ability to manage a team and influence customers to accomplish goals
  • Ability to collaborate and work well with management, peers, and across functions

FRONT HOUSE SUPERVISOR

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Training and supervision of all service staff; ensure all company and Tips policies are being followed
  • Daily restaurant accounting and balancing of registers; assists with maintenance of Aloha
  • Assists Café Manager with updating menu items and POS database
  • Supervise and ensure high service/hygiene standard
  • Expedites food production and services throughout the day
  • Responds to and works to resolve customer service issues
  • Inspection of work areas and services areas
  • Back up bar staff as needed
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of beer and other beverages, as well as barware and glassware
  • Assist with and maintain staff scheduling, including schedule changes
  • Maintain good vendor relations
  • Regular maintenance of beer lines
  • Regular monitoring quality of the beers
  • Inventory of all FOH supplies for Chef/Café Manager to order
  • Assist w execution of vendor booth
