BCTC IV WRAP UP:
FRIDAY JULY 20: The VIP beer dinner began at 7 pm and lasted for three hours. Appetizers of breads, cheeses, and pates were paired were Duvel, Rodenbach Grand Cru, LaChouffe, and our new Ommegeddon Ale.
The first course featured locally-made Witte beer brats with red cabbage salad, paired with Rare Vos and Hennepin. The second course was Belgian endive salad with Ommegang Witte, and the third was mussels and frites with Rodenbach and Rodenbach Grand Cru. The fourth course featured roasted stuffed pork, pork bellies stuffed with liverwurst, oven-roasted potatoes, and Brussels sprouts, with Ommegang Abbey and Maredsous 10. The fifth course was cheeses and fruit platter, with Three Philosophers and the yet-to-be released Ommegang Chocolate Stout. Paired with the final course, puff pastries with ice cream, was Ommegang Kriek, the beer we blend into Three Philosophers. Nope, it’s not for sale. Sorry.
SATURDAY JULY 21: It dawned cool and clear, and stayed beautiful all day and night. 50 breweries and importers sampled well over 200 Belgian and Belgian-style beers to our 800 paying guests. Great beer, great beer, great beer. What else can we say? The food was excellent, 5 bands played, falcons and Belgian draft horses appeared, and the bonfire went into the wee hours of Sunday. 99% of the feedback was positive (okay, more portalets next year) and we thank everyone for coming. We also had a blast.
Watch for NEXT YEAR TICKET'S, available ONLY ONLINE at www.ommegang.com, starting in MID-MARCH.
