Hopstate is back with a brand new recipe for 2018. Brewed with 100% New York State grown hops, this juicy IPA launches on Thursday, July 26 at the brewery as well as in select retailers in New York. Brewery Ommegang’s Hopstate IPA celebrates New York farmers

(COOPERSTOWN, NY) Brewery Ommegang is proud to once again shine the spotlight on New York State hop farmers with the release of Hopstate IPA, a classic India Pale Ale brewed exclusively with New York State hops. Hopstate IPA is part of the brewery’s Farmhouse Series, a line of beers that draws inspiration from the brewery’s home on the site of a historic 140-acre hop farm.

Ommegang has long supported the reinvigoration of the New York hop industry with annual releases that showcase its produce. The fourth such release, this year’s brew also includes two New York-grown barley varietals from 1886 Malt House in Fulton, NY.

Hopstate IPA is a 7.4% ABV, 40 IBU IPA hopped with Cascade, Chinook, Centennial, and Nugget. Brewed with flaked oats along with Synergy and Munich malts from 1886 Malt House, it is fermented with English ale yeast. Hopstate IPA pours a hazy pale orange with a fluffy white head. Juicy aromas of tropical fruit burst from the glass, followed by bright citrus and sweet malt. Flavors of sweet fruit and citrus mix with a pleasant bready character. Lightly balanced bitterness in every sip pairs with a smooth, pillowy mouthfeel and a medium body. The finish is moderately dry with mild, lingering bitterness.

Hopstate IPA pairs well with pub fare, grilled or smoked meat and fish, and moderately sharp cheese. It is also sensational with summer desserts such as tropical fruit sorbet and seasonal berry tart. Available at the brewery in Cooperstown beginning Thursday, July 26 in 16 oz. cans, Hopstate IPA will be distributed in NY, CT, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NH, PA, NC, SC, RI, VA, VT, WV, Washington, DC and the U.S.V.I. The suggested retail price for a four-pack is $12.99.
